Trivia
• This story uses cards from the Munchkin Bites version (and a couple that are just made up), but the real life game was played using Nightmare Before Christmas Munchkin, and the level 1 imp was actually a level 1 Jewel Finkelstein. There’s now a house rule that everyone must pile on to make her as strong as possible whenever she’s played.
• Before The Munchkin Story was an audio drama, it was a skit performed for a live audience, complete with a child dressed as the imp and a painted 4x8 sheet of insulation with giant googly eyes as the Thesaurus.
• Neither the writer nor the writer’s friends have ever played the base version of the game. We have instead played Munchkin Bites, Munchkin Zombies, and Nightmare Before Christmas Munchkin, which was ditched for this production out of fear of the Mouse.
• Why choose Munchkin Bites for this production? Because it’s the version we’ve played the most, and the Thesaurus being the most powerful monster in the game is just funny. That’s a real card, by the way, we didn’t make that up.
• This year marks the 25th anniversary of Munchkin! We had no idea that was the case, but we can retroactively declare this to be an anniversary present. Congrats and thanks to Steve Jackson Games for a quarter century of ruining friendships!
